Preschool Drama: Day 3

Technically, it's day 4, but there was no drama the first day.....

Tom dropped them off and called me a few minutes ago as I am getting ready for work.

They both freaked out. Ian's anxiety began as soon as the word "preschool" was uttered as he was getting ready. Not even the draw of a brand-new Lego set could help. Yep, I am resorting to rewards-which I am very anti-reward as a teacher. Anyway, that didn't work.

HELP!

It changed for Connor!? I thought he was happy? Is he just following Ian?

Ian sounds so much like my son - each day for weeks it got worse and worse. Scenes like you wouldn't believe but he could never explain what bothered him.

You have to remain calm (easier said than done) and you have to keep selling how much there is to gain in pre-school.

Will the school let Ian bring a Lego set? Perhaps they could incorporate building into the day.

Hugs honey.

Sorry Ian is having such a hard time. I wonder if there's something going on at school that he isn't telling you about - someone picking on him or something like that. I can really relate to him going through this as I was much the same way. The start of the school year was not a happy time for a number of years. I hope Ian can find a way to express what's going on and that you can work through it with him. I'm sending big hugs to all of you.
