Autism Awareness Day 17: MOMMY!

We don't usually enjoy waking up as early as Connor does.

But this morning, we woke up to the sonorous "Mommy!" "Mommy!" "Mommy!" repeated in all its delight.

For the very first time, he called me when I wasn't actually there.

The other great thing is when I am driving in the car. Connor will call "Mommy!". I say, "Yes?" He says "CAR!" and I make some agreeable sound and he then says "Lightning McQueen" (mumbled) and this goes on for the entire car ride home.

He is a little obsessed with Lightning McQueen.

I know I am very behind on posts.....I will do all 30, as promised. We have been busy with school, work, work and house work. And just decompressing a bit.

I am off to tutor 6th grade math now (yes, I hear your laughter, those who know me well enough to know that I should be tutored in math, not the other way around). The poor child is me 25+ years ago, eagerly confused.

That's wonderful, Linda! Treasure all the times Connor calls you "mommy"...I'm still waiting to hear that myself, from Mattie.

I'm glad it's life just keeping you busy and nothing more serious...don't forget to come for air again soon. *HUGS & SMILES*

So good to see you back. Glad you woke up to such a sweet sound. "Eagerly confused." Cool phrase. Hope the tutoring goes well. My father was an actuary (super mathematician) but that gene apparently didn't transmit to me. Sounds like Connor is making great strides.

The most beautiful sound in the world when your child calls you Mommy. :)

I'm not so sure I agree completely with Minnesota Blue and Akelamalu -to me, hearing Maya say "Grammy" beat the heck out of when my own three kids each said Mommy! And last week, one day when I was changing Kurtis -all the time telling him over and over (I do that with a captive audience, ya know) "Say Grammy, baby, say Grammy." and I could have sworn he was trying to imitate me! Sounded kind of like "GAYEE" but that was close enough for me to call it Grammy, ya know.

That is so great that he now says Mommy though and car, as well as Lightning McQueen. How quickly they do pick up on the celebrity type stuff though, huh? Faith, perseverance, love, lots of work too, but it will see all of us through to these kids learning more and more!

Glad to see ya back. Been thinking about you.

This was such a light and happy post.

Lots of luck with 6th grade math. I don't think I ever passed it.
